Helly will perform her original songs and drum remixes, giving insight on the analysis and technical explanation of some parts of each song.

 

She will present her first short drum method “How To Develop An Idea In 10 Steps”: «I personally developed the method by following a very simple idea: music is made of an empty space and something that fills it.

We need to start a creative process by shaping this “something”, which will be the “main theme” in each exercise. “Main theme” consists of accents that will be a constant during the process. Once you've found the main theme, you have to think how to fill the empty space progressively, among the accents.» 

 

The logic within the process, based on Horror Vacui method of occupying the empty space between each accent also using the double pedal, will be explained.

 

The final result will be that of obtaining simple or intricate rhythms and rolls, making use of melody and dynamics to enhance the main theme, the fruit of one’s own idea, in various ways.

 

In addition to the method, some exercises for the initiation of metal drumming will be shared. These will be focused on the double pedal and the blast beat theme as well as the typical rhythms and drum rolls in metal music.
